Distance Learning Training Classes

Staff at each site will receive a minimum of five classes.

1. Internet Classes

2. Health Resources on the Internet
This advanced class will not only emphasize how to obtain HIV/AIDS information on the Internet; but also include specific criteria for evaluating health information on the Internet.

3. Introduction to PubMed and Internet Grateful Med
In this class we will introduce you to The National Library of Medicinešs free medical databases including MEDLINE, AIDSLINE, AIDSDRUGS, and AIDSTRIALS. These databases index millions of biomedical journal articles. You will learn to conduct basic searches for medical information.

4. Advanced PubMed and Internet Grateful Med
You will learn how to create complex search strategies in order to pinpoint exactly what you are looking for. Also we will teach you to obtain documents from The Lamar Soutter Library through Lonesome Doc and how to link to full text documents from the publisheršs servers through PubMed.

5. Introduction to Webpage Design
This class is open to all sites who do not already have their own webpage developed and to those who may want to redesign their existing page. You will learn a number of basic commands working off an existing template.

Classes can be held at the participating site or at The University of Massachusetss Medical School.

All Classes:

Are free.
Are 60 minutes or shorter.
Include a demonstration and hands-on exercises
Provide instructional handouts in print and on the web
for further review by the attendees.
Can be repeated as many times as you require.
